Subject: The house. Describing the
living-room. Objectives: Practical: to practice
the usage of the lexical units on the
topic House;to review the prepositions of place;
to teach the pupils to describe the living-room;to
practice the usage of the grammar structure:
There is a…, There are…. Educational: to get pupils involved in
conversation about the house; to develop speaking, reading, writing and
listening skills; to
increase pupils’ active involvement in all areas of language practice; to develop pupils’ outlook; Developing: to enrich
pupils’ knowledge on the topical issues; to develop pupils’ creative
imagination in communicative activity. Equipment: the
presentation on the topic «The House», flash
cards, a tape recorder, a book, pictures . The type of
the lesson:
Procedure 1.Organizing
a lesson. Greeting. Слайд 1 Teacher: Good
morning, pupils. Pupils: Good morning, teacher. Teacher: My name is Victoria Mykolaivna and
today we have a special lesson. Lets start. Speaking
warm-up. Teacher: Look!. Слайд 2 - What
season is it now? - How
do you feel today? ( The pupils answer the questions) Teacher: And
I feel very well today. Children, do you like tails? Today at the lesson we
have the characters of the tail. Do you know them? Слайд 3 Pupils: They
are The Three Little Pigs! Teacher: Meet
them! (The
pupils clap. At this moment the pigs go to the middle of the classroom, sing
the song «Who is afraid of the big bad wolf» and build the house). The
group work. Слайд 4 (The pigs
take the pictures with their houses) Teacher: Let’s
make three groups.The first group visits Nif-Nif’s house, the second group-Nuf-Nuf’s house and
the third-Noof-Noof’s
house. Ask the pigs about their houses. (The pupils
ask the questions and the pigs answer). 2. Checking
the homework. Слайд 5 Teacher: The
pigs have just told us about their houses.And now tell them about the place you
live in. Your homework was to make up the dialogues about your house.Act the
dialogues.(The pair work). 3.The main
part of the lesson. The aim of the lesson. Teacher:
Today at the lesson we will review the rooms in the house, the pieces of
furniture and will try to describe the room in the house the pigs have built.
Look, the door is closed. To open it we must do some tasks. Task 1 Reading
the poem. Слайд 6 Teacher: The
door is still closed. In Ukraine there is a tradition when the cat enters the
house first. Do you know it? Слайд 7 Pupils:It is
Garfield. Teache:Your
eyes are tired. Let us do the exercise for your eyes, follow Garfield Слайд 8 Teacher: You are
well done! But our house is still closed. Writing Teacher: Open
your exercise-book and write down the date. Слайд 9 Teacher: The
second task is to name the rooms. Our pigs played and mixed the letters in the
words. Put the letters in the right order, name the rooms and write the words
down. Слайди 10-13 Teacher:
Using these words finish the sentence about your flat. Слайд 14 Teacher: Our
house is opened. Guess the room we shall try to describe. Слайд 15 Pupils: It is
a living-room. Слайд 16 Vocabulary revision. Teacher: Our
room is empty Lets name the pieces of furniture and design it. (The pupils
name the furniture and the teacher designs it) Слайд 17 Teacher: Our
room is nice. I think you are glad. It is high time to sing and rest. Слайд 18 Physical warm-up Head and

To describe the room let us name the prepositions .The game «Find

Using the picture of the living-room, describe it. (The pupils make up the
sentences in chain.Then one-two pupils combine all the sentences and make the

Read the description of the room in your books on page 20 Ex.1. Слайд 21 Listening comprehension Teacher:Look!
I have got a letter from our friend Bill. He writes about his own room. Listen
to it.( The teacher reads the letter) Слайд 22
Bill’s Room Hell, my
friends! This is my
new room! It is my own room. I don't
have to share it with my younger brother anymore. I love my new room! The walls
are blue, the carpet is light brown and my bed is so soft. The best thing is
that there's enough place for all my animals. They are not real animals of
course… except for one! Look at the picture and say which animal is real. Need

Dear friends! Our lesson is coming to the end. It’s time to say good-bye to the
