Стихотворения помогают закреплению языкового материала и обогащают речь учащихся. Материал, представленный в стихотворной форме, усваивается детьми значительно легче. Практика показала, что, когда стихотворение заучено, все его лексическое содержание включается в активный словарь ученика. Таким образом создается база для неподготовленной речи.
Большую ценность представляют стихи, которые содержат речевые образцы. При работе над ними нужно научить школьников выбирать из текста отдельные речевые образцы и использовать их в своих высказываниях, беседах, диалогах.
Очень эффективно можно использовать стихотворения в качестве примеров при освоении грамматического материала.
При работе над стихотворениями отрабатывается произношение, развивается навык выразительного чтения, навык анализа изобразительных средств языка.
